Winning Streak Snapped in GSAC Championship Match

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Playing in the GSAC Championship match for the first time, the 12th-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team took the first set before falling to No. 6 Vanguard on Saturday afternoon at The Pit.

In falling 25-21, 23-25, 17-25, 22-25, OUAZ (12-4) had its school-record 10-match winning streak snapped. Vanguard (10-3) won its first conference title and earned an automatic invite to the NAIA National Championship.

The teams were solid on offense with Vanguard finishing with a 46-43 edge in kills and hitting .333 to the .277 of the Spirit. Where the Lions had an edge was in the service game where they tallied 11 aces against the five from OUAZ.

Jordan Moses led three Spirit players in double figures with 12 kills with Emery Outin and Quaid King adding 10 apiece. It was the ninth straight match in double figures for Moses.

Conner Duyck recorded a pair of aces and three blocks. Andrew de'Leon finished with 33 assists and Tatum Gray had nine digs.

GSAC Player of the Year Kyle Anema led Vanguard with 21 kills, seven aces, and six digs.

OUAZ will now wait and see if they receive an at-large invite to the NAIA National Championship when the 12-team field is announced on April 12.
