OUAZ FOOTBALL GAME 3 NOTES
• Coming off an open week, the 24th-ranked OUAZ football team returns to action on Saturday when they host Wayland Baptist in the first of two straight home games.

• Kickoff at Spirit Field is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the gates opening at 10 a.m.

• Tickets for the game are SOLD OUT.

• OUAZ will broadcast the game live on the OUAZ Digital Network. Fans can watch the game online or on mobile devices at OUAZSpirit.com/digital.

• It will also be available through the NAIA OTT app which is available on Android TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku devices.

SPIRIT TIDBITS
• OUAZ enters the game with a 1-1 record both overall and in Sooner Athletic Conference games. They are coming off a 35-28 win at Panhandle State on March 6.

• The Spirit has recorded a 9-4 record all-time when playing at Spirit Field, but they will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak at their home site.

• With the win at OPSU, OUAZ is now 8-3 all-time when playing as a ranked team.

• In the two games this season, there have been 27 players make their first appearances on the field for OUAZ. There have also been five players that earned a start for the Spirit for the first time.

NATIONAL POLL
• OUAZ dropped eight positions to No. 24 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll that was released on Monday. That was the biggest drop the team has had since entering the poll for the first time last season.

• Despite that drop, the Spirit has now been ranked in 13 consecutive polls dating back to the first regular season poll of the 2019 season. During that time, OUAZ has been ranked as high as No. 12. That came in the poll released on October 28, 2019.

OFFENSIVE NOTES
• OUAZ has been one of the premier offensive teams in the NAIA the past two-plus seasons and that is true once again this season. They are currently averaging 499.0 yards of offense per game where they lead the Sooner and sit fifth in the nation.

• The Spirit are sixth in the country by passing for 322.0 yards per game. They have thrown for over 300 yards in each of the season's first two games and 18 times in program history.

• It was a solid rushing attack that gained 263 yards on the ground at OPSU. That raised the season total to 177.0 per game and has the Spirit 25th in the NAIA in that department.

• The Spirit finished with 91 rushing yards against ACU. That is the team's lowest rushing total since game four of the 2019 season.

• OUAZ set school records with 107 plays and 32 first downs at OPSU. They are now third in the NAIA by averaging 27.0 first downs per game.

DEFENSIVE NOTES
• While Panhandle State scored 28 points, the OUAZ defense only gave up one of those scores as the Aggies had three defensive touchdowns.

• OUAZ held Panhandle to just 228 total yards and the Spirit are now giving up 377.5 yards of offense per game.

• They rank 24th in the NAIA in holding the opposition to just 173.5 passing yards per game after tying the school record by limiting OPSU to only 74 passing yards.

• The Spirit defense is eighth in the country in pass efficiency defense with the opposition holding a 78.6 passer rating.

• The opposition is rushing for 204.0 yards per game on the season.

• The defense has recorded three sacks in each of the first two games of the season and ranks 18th in the NAIA at 3.0 sacks per game. Dating back to last season, OUAZ has recorded at least one sack in 10 of the last 11 games played.

SCOUTING WAYLAND BAPTIST
• Wayland Baptist will travel to Surprise with a 2-2 overall record and 1-1 in the Sooner. Saturday in the Pioneers first game since defeating Lyon, 10-0, on February 27.

• WBU is 0-2 on the road this season, including a 25-18 loss at Panhandle State on February 20 in the team's first game this spring.

• The Pioneers are scoring 21.3 points per game while giving up 20.0 points per game. They are third in the NAIA with an opponent third-down percentage of 20.7 percent.

• Nick Quintero has thrown for 420 yards and is 49th in the NAIA with his 116.8 passer rating.

• Daniel Hurn averages 24.3 yards per kickoff return which has him ranked 18th in the country.

SPIRIT AND PIONEERS HISTORY
• Saturday is the third all-time meeting between OUAZ and Wayland Baptist with the Spirit holding a 2-0 record.

• In those games the Spirit have outscored the Pioneers 155-35.

SERIES NOTES
• This is the third straight year the teams will meet at Spirit Field.

• In last season's 80-21 win, OUAZ set the program record for points scored (80), points in a half (73), and points scored in a quarter (49).

OUAZ HISTORY
• OUAZ is 1-1 for the second time in program history and they are 0-1 all-time when entering a game with that record.

• The Spirit has a 1-1 record all-time in the team's third game of the season. They have played the third game of the season at home in each of the program's first two seasons.
