Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Offense Comes Alive in Important Road Victory

After a pair of 1-0 overtime defeats, the OUAZ men's soccer team broke out a four-goal effort in its 4-0 win over The Master's on Wednesday afternoon. The victory keeps the Spirit just one game behind William Jessup in the GSAC East race.

Kebba Jobe book ended the scoring for OUAZ, getting the offense started with a marker in the 26', and adding another one as time expired. It is his first multi-goal game as a member of the Spirit, and now has seven points in the last five games.

Mauricio Ochoa had another excellent game sharing the ball, recording an assist on each of the first two goals. After setting up Jobe on the game's first, he helped Miseal Moreno put OUAZ up 2-0 in the 62'.

Jordan Riley scored his first goal since the season-opener, all but securing the victory for the Spirit in the 84'. Thomas Monayer picked up his first collegiate assist and point on Riley's goal, and fellow freshman Tom Cohen recorded an assist on the game's final tally.

Both teams had plenty of chances, as they combined for 24 shots and 11 shots on goal. The Spirit recorded five of its seven shots on target in the second half, and had 8 shot attempts total in the second half.

Angel Ramirez made four saves in the win, and his second clean sheet of the year. He made two huge saves just 21 seconds apart from each other in the 47', preserving the Spirit's one goal lead at the time. Ramirez has allowed just one goal in three starts this season, and currently holds a .933 save percentage.

OUAZ now encounters two must-win games next week, beginning with a home meeting against Arizona Christian. A victory over the Firestorm would set up a winner-take-all meeting with William Jessup for the GSAC East crown on April 1.
