Spirit Stay Strong Against Hope International

SURPRISE, ARIZ. - The bounceback season for OUAZ women's tennis on Saturday, as they defeated Hope International 7-0 at the Surprise Tennis Facility. The Spirit are 2-0 in conference play for the first time in conference history.

The day started off well for OUAZ, as they picked up the doubles point, winning two of the three pairs matchups. The Spirit took the third match by default, and needed a great performance from Veronica Gallardo and Giulia Leali to start the dual 1-0.

The Spirit went up 2-0, as the Royals did not have a player for singles match #6, and OUAZ cruised from there. Only one match went more than two sets, where Saskia Wells won an 11-9 tiebreak in the third set to officially clinch the match for her team.

OUAZ will take its first road trip of the season next Friday when they head to Santa Barbara, Calif. for a dual with Westmont. The start of the dual is still to be determined, so stay tuned to ouazspirit.com for all the latest news on the women's tennis program.
