Win Streak Up to Five as Spirit Topple ACU

GLENDALE, ARIZ. - The OUAZ men's tennis team extended it dual win streak to five on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Arizona Christian in Glendale. It marks the second time in three season the Spirit have started conference play with a victory.

It was another hot start for the Spirit, as they took the doubles point to start the afternoon. Andres Reyes and Grzegorz Rudnicki grabbed a 6-2 win, while Alan Vasquez and Dong Hyun Kim fought hard for their 7-5 win.

Reyes carried his doubles momentum into his singles match, taking down Anthony Popyrin 6-3, 6-1. Loyd put the Spirit up 3-0 with his 6-3, 6-2 win over Leon Olivier. Jonas Wand pulled the Firestorm back to 3-1, but Todd clinched the dual victory with a 6-4, 6-3 final over Andres Vasquez. The remaining matches were stopped as a result.

The Spirit come back home for a conference dual against Hope International next Saturday. The matchup with the Royals is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Arizona time.
