OUAZ Drops 83-75 Decision at No. 5 ACU

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's basketball team made things interesting at No. 5 Arizona Christian on Saturday, but a 15-0 second-half run was their undoing in an 83-75 loss at the ACU Events Center.
 
After losing by 32 at home on Thursday, OUAZ (8-4, 3-3 GSAC) trailed 44-43 with 15:00 on the clock this afternoon. Arizona Christian (20-2, 6-0) then scored 15 straight points to pull away and earn a season sweep of the series.
 
The Spirit shot 45.2 percent as a team and hit on 8 of 20 from beyond the arc. They were able to hang around by holding ACU to 38.7 percent in the first half, but the Firestorm made 62.1 percent after intermission to finish at 50 percent for the game.
 
Marcus Williams led the Spirit with 17 points behind 5 of 6 from three. That is the most threes Williams has made in a game this season and matches his total from the previous four games combined.
 
Kolten Hitt added 14 points while Quentin Guliford added 13. Dane Maggii led the team with eight rebounds and Kam Malbrough posted four assists.
 
Robby Wilson led ACU with 17 points.
 
OUAZ will take Sunday off before hosting San Diego Christian in a two-game series on Monday and Tuesday at Faith Arena.
