OUAZ Falls in Exhibition at GCU

PHOENIX – Playing in one of the better atmospheres in college basketball, the OUAZ men's basketball team watch Grand Canyon score the first 13 points of the game on its way to an 81-53 win in an exhibition game for the Spirit on Saturday evening at GCU Arena.

While the early deficit led to a 46-22 score at intermission, OUAZ battled in the second half and was only outscored by four points over the final 20 minutes.

Devin Collins led the Spirit with 12 points, including a 3 of 3 night from beyond the arc. Kolten Hitt added nine points, with Josiah De'laCerda scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds.

OUAZ shot 31.3 percent from the field and turned 13 offensive rebounds into 11 second chance points.

Grand Canyon (9-2) shot 43.9 percent overall and 40.9 percent from three. Holland Woods led the Lopes with 13 points.

The Spirit will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Montana Tech in Faith Arena with an afternoon special at 1 p.m.
