OUAZ Advances to Semifinals with 6-0 Shutout of Bob Jones

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The OUAZ women's soccer team qualified for the semifinals of the NCCAA Women's Soccer National Championship for the third consecutive appearance by claiming a 6-0 win over Bob Jones on Wednesday evening to win Pool C.

OUAZ (13-4-3) got a hat trick from Emily Lynch and goals from Cassidi Calzaretta, Haley Howard, and Ki'ilaweau Aweau to match the program record for goals in a postseason game that was set in Monday's win.

Calzaretta and Lynch scored 31 seconds apart in the eighth minute to get the scoring outburst started. Lynch then added goals in the 31st and 55th minutes to complete the sixth hat trick in program history. She joins Calzaretta (2019) as the only Spirit players with a postseason hat trick.

The Spirit took 29 shots with 14 on goal and created eight corner kicks. They held Bob Jones (18-4-1) to only two shots.

Saipress Jones led all players with seven shots while Lynch took six. Paige Murray-Hernandez picked up a pair of assists, with Jones, Heather Walker, and Alyce Hancock recording one assist each.

Cassidy Samuelson notched the shutout in goal – her third of the season – to secure her fifth win of the campaign.

The result left the Spirit tied with Trinity Christian for the No. 1 seed entering bracket play. The teams will play a penalty kick tiebreaker at 7 a.m. (AZ) on Wednesday to determine the matchups for the semifinals. The penalty kicks will be broadcast on the NCCAA Network at no charge.

The winner of the penalties will play the No. 4-seed Central Christian College of Kansas in the first semifinal on Friday at 3 p.m. (AZ). The team that loses the penalties will face No. 3-seed Grace in the second semifinal at 5:30 p.m. (AZ) on Friday.
