Women’s Soccer Set for GSAC Semifinals

OUAZ is set to face Hope International in the 2021 GSAC Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals on Thursday at noon (Arizona) at Thorrington Field on the Westmont College campus in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Spirit advanced after their 4-0 win over Menlo on Saturday in the Opening Round.

OUAZ – the tournament's No. 3-seed – brings an 11-3-3 record and two-game winning streak into the game. The Spirit has just one loss since September 24, and they are 6-3 in road games. Hope International is the No. 2-seed after going 11-0-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the conference.

The Spirit and Royals played to a 3-3 draw on October 16 at Spirit Field. Hope International led that game 3-1 into the 80th minute before the Spirit scored twice in the final ten minutes to earn the draw. In the history of the series, OUAZ has gone 2-0-2 and outscored the Royals 12-10.

Cassidi Calzaretta enters the weekend as the GSAC leader with 12 goals, and she is tied for the lead with 26 assists. She has put 27 of her 47 shots on goal and scored five game-winning goals.

Saipress Jones will bring eight goals and two assists into the semifinals after scoring against Menlo. She has recorded at least one point in nine of the 17 games this season while attempting 39 shots with 24 on goal.

Chloe Gutierrez earned the win and third shutout of the season against Menlo, and she holds a 0.83 goals-against-average and .851 save percentage. Cassidy Samuelson maintains a 1.11 GAA and .750 save percentage with a pair of shutouts.

The winner of OUAZ and Hope will advance to the Championship Game on Saturday at 2 p.m. (Arizona) against the winner of The Master's and Westmont.
