Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Spirit End Road Swing with Important Win

The OUAZ men's soccer team has played close games in its first three conference matchups this fall, and Saturday afternoon was no different. The 19th-ranked Spirit was in a battle with San Diego Christian, but took home a 2-1 win to split its first road trip in a month.

Kebba Jobe scored first for the Spirit, striking in the 19th minute to give OUAZ an early lead. That advantage lasted just a couple minutes into the second half when the Hawks equalized thanks to Ruben Aguiniga.

The Spirit answered quickly as Tonny Temple scored his second goal in the last three games in just 1:36 later. OUAZ was able to hold on after regaining the lead, as both teams could not find the back of the net the remainder of the afternoon.

It was another physical and foul-filled game for the Spirit, as the two teams combined for 36 fouls and nine cards. There were two red cards handed out as well, both to San Diego Christian players.

OUAZ had the majority of the chances, taking 17 shots and hitting the target seven times. Angel Ramirez made a pair of saves for his eighth win of the season.

Next week sees the schedule slow down a bit, as the Spirit host just one game next Saturday. The weekend matchup with Hope International is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m.
