Quick Start Sparks Spirit to 4-0 Win

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Looking to turn the page and build some momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, No. 23 OUAZ got the first of two goals from Tom Cohen just 23 seconds into its game at The Master's on Thursday to spark a 4-0 road win.

On his first touch of the day, Cohen took a couple of touches and then fired a left-footed shot from 25-yards out to give OUAZ (10-3, 3-2 GSAC) an early advantage. He tallied his second day on a free-kick from just outside the area in the 20th minute.

Leading 2-0 to start the second half, the Spirit once again struck quickly as Tinashe Simbo finished from inside the area following a backward flick from Kebba Jobe just 26 seconds into the second half. That duo would strike again in the 57th minute as again Jobe set up Simbo for a blast from the left of the area.

The Spirit ended the day with a 14-10 edge in shot attempts, and they put seven of those chances on goal. The Master's (5-7-1, 2-3) attempted ten shots with only three on frame. The Mustangs did maintain an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

Angel Ramirez picked up his seventh shutout of the season in goal for the Spirit with three saves. In the process, Ramirez lowered his GAA for the season to 0.77.

OUAZ now heads to Santa Barbara, California, where they will face Westmont on Saturday at 12::30 p.m. in a crucial game to earning the Spirit a home game in the upcoming GSAC Tournament.
