Spirit and Warriors Play to 1-1 Draw

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The 23rd-ranked OUAZ men's soccer team picked up a point on the road as they played Westmont to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon at Thorrington Field.

OUAZ (10-3-1, 3-2-1 GSAC) fell behind in the 26th minute when Westmont (4-6-1, 2-3-1) scored from inside the six-yard box. That lead would hold until the 55th minute when Tonny Temple headed in a cross from Tom Cohen for the equalizer.

As the game continued into two overtime periods, both teams would get three shot attempts, with the Spirit placing two of those chances on goal. However, neither team was able to find a winner.

The Spirit ended the game with a 16-12 advantage in total shots with ten of those on frame. They also held a 13-2 edge in corner kicks.

Temple was credited with seven shots – five on goal – to lead all players.

Angel Ramirez picked up four saves in goal for the Spirit.

OUAZ now returns home to host Arizona Christian on October 30 at 12:30 p.m.
