Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Turner Scores Thrice, Cohen Nets Pair in 8-0 Rout of William Jessup

SURPRISE, ARIZ. - Just a little more than 36 hours after a frustrating tie, the OUAZ men's soccer team put up eight goals against William Jessup for a shutout win to get a split of the first two conference games. The 8-0 win is the largest margin of victory in a conference game in program history.

OUAZ did not wait to get its offense going, as they scored three goals in the first 8:39. Tom Cohen scored the first two just 40 seconds apart, then passed to Jamaine Turner to give OUAZ the 3-0 lead.

Turner's goal scoring day would not be done, as he would score two more for his first career hat trick. The freshman from England scored in the ninth, 18th and 52nd minutes, and led the way with seven shots for OUAZ.

Cohen added another assist later on in the match, and finished with two goals and two assists. It is the second game this season where he has recorded at least a goal and an assist, and has contributed at least one point in six of the last seven matches.

A pair of Spirit players also scored their first career goals during the offensive onslaught. Defender Aleem Barclay scored in the 18', and forward Tonny Temple netted one in the 43'.

Angel Ramirez made four saves for his sixth shutout of the season. He now hold sole possession of the program's single-season (six) and career (nine) shutout record.

OUAZ will get back on the field next week when they head to California for a pair of games. They will first head to Costa Mesa for a matchup with Vanguard on Thursday, then go to San Diego for a Saturday game with San Diego Christian.
