Late Goal Deals Spirit Road Loss

IRVINE, Calif. – The OUAZ men's water polo team opened its five-game road trip to California with a heartbreaking 8-7 loss at Westcliff on Thursday afternoon.

OUAZ led 7-4 with 6:28 to play in the fourth period before Westcliff mounted a rally. The host Warriors tied the game at 7-7 with 32 seconds remaining and then tallied the game-winner with two seconds left in regulation.

Johnathan Wong scored three goals to lead the Spirit. Roland Mantecon added two goals.

Clay Gyde was credited with 11 saves in goal.

OUAZ has a pair of games on tap on Friday, starting at 10 a.m. against Biola before facing Cal Lutheran at 4 p.m.
