SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ baseball team fell to Park Gilbert 9-5 on Saturday afternoon to drop the three-game series with the Buccaneers that was held at Surprise Stadium.
OUAZ (1-5) twice rallied to tie the game only to see Park Gilbert (8-4) score late for the second time in three games. The Spirit were down one heading to the ninth before the Buccaneers scored three times to blow the game open.
Hunter Lessard had two hits and he drove in tworuns with a two-run single in the sixth inning that tied the game at 5-5. OUAZ got on the board in the fifth inning on a two-run single from Hinter Parks.
Elijah Celaya had a pair of hits and two runs scored.
Tommy Koloski started on the mound and received a no decision after giving up two runs on two hits with three strikeouts in two innings.
Juan Navarrete (0-1) suffered the loss allowing a run in one-third of an inning pitched.
OUAZ now gets set to host No. 25 Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Kansas City Royals Field 6.
