SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The OUAZ men's basketball team couldn't slow Life Pacific in the first half and it was enough for the Warriors to earn a 77-65 win on Thursday night in Golden State Athletic Conference action.
Life Pacific (7-18, 3-12 GSAC) used a 14-2 run in the first half to build a 10-point cushion they never gave back. The Warriors then closed the half with 12 of the game's final 14 points to lead 45-30 at intermission.
OUAZ (9-16, 4-11) would limit the home team to just 30 percent shooting in the second half – down from the 60 percent first half – but they didn't have enough offense to complete a comeback.
The Spirit ended the night shooting 43.3 percent from the floor with 38 points in the paint. They again struggled from three at 4 of 22. Life Pacific finished the game shooting 45 percent and going 12 of 27 from three. The Warriors also used a 46-29 edge in rebounds to counter their 21 turnovers compared to 14 from the Spirit.
Brian Carey led OUAZ with 20 points on 8 of 14 from the floor. He added two assists and two rebounds.
Dimetres Moore added 12 points six rebounds, and four steals while
Elijah Simmons had 11 points.
OUAZ will play its final road game of the season on Saturday when they face Hope International at 5 p.m. (AZ) in Fullerton, California.
