SURPRISE, Ariz. – Needing an early rally and then some runs late, the OUAZ baseball team picked up a 12-9 win over Okanagan on Wednesday night to complete a two-game sweep over the visitors from Canada.
OUAZ (4-9) put runs on the board in each of the first six innings, including multiple runs in an inning three times. The runs were needed as Okanagan (2-6) scored three times in the top of the first and then six times in the top of the fifth.
The Spirit used RBIs from
Ben Lewis and
Jared Crockett to start the initial rally and then
Adrian Salazar led off the third inning with a home run for the second straight night. After the Coyotes took the lead back with their big fifth inning, tied the game with an RBI single from Salazar in the bottom of the frame.
Kobie Tinsley put OUAZ back in front with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth and then
Deon Reese added the insurance runs with a two-run double to left.
Salazar ended the night 3 for 4 with those two RBI. It was his third 3-hit game in the past four outings and second straight against Okanagan.
Griffin Hagen also had three hits in four at bats while Tinsley added a pair of hits.
Myles White (1-2) worked 1.1 scoreless innings to notch his first win of the season.
