SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team hasn't played a match since August 21, but they will return to the court this week with three matches. The Spirit play at Yavapai College in an exhibition on Wednesday at 7 p.m. OUAZ will then play a pair of Golden State Athletic Conference matches against nationally ranked opponents. They begin the test on Friday at 7 p.m. against No. 23 Westmont before hosting No. 15 The Master's on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Both GSAC matches will be played at Willow Canyon High School and admission is FREE. Fans are encouraged to park in the lot on the south side of the gymnasium and enter through the west doors.
Wednesday's match will be streamed live on the Yavapai College Facebook page. Both home matches will be streamed live on the OUAZ Digital Network. It will also be available through the NAIA Network OTT app on Android TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku devices. The Spirit enter the week's action at 0-1 on the season after falling in three sets to Benedictine Mesa in their season opener. They had just 19 kills and hit .041 in the match while posting a pair of service aces and 17 digs.
Kenzie Ray led the team with six kills in her collegiate debut with
Skyler Traut and
Stevie Wenzel adding four kills each.
Chloe Conallis had a team-best 16 assists.
Leni Bartley anchored the Spirit backline with seven digs and Ray and
Gabrielle Fugle each had one block.
OUAZ is 0-2 all-time against Westmont having been swept in both matches last season. They were also swept in their two meetings against Master's last season.
