OUAZ men's soccer seemed to be well on their way to a victory on Wednesday night, but Benedictine-Mesa kept fighting until the very end.
The game's final 7:33 saw the teams combine for three goals, the most important of those coming in the 86' off the foot of
Samuel George. His goal ended up being the game winner.
The Spirit led most of the second half. The scoring started when
Daniel Lee put one home in the 57'.
Mauricio Ochoa scored 16 minutes later to give OUAZ a 2-0 lead.
Benedictine-Mesa got two goals from Mo Kinteh in the 83' and 87', but George's goal in between kept the Redhawks from tying the game.
The Spirit had assists on all three goals Wednesday, picked up by
Hazem Sobhy,
Cristian Gennaro and
Jordan Riley.
The team also managed 14 shots (eight on target). George led the team in that department with five attempts, putting four on target.
The Spirit will return home Friday for the final regular season non-conference game when they take on Embry-Riddle. Kickoff from Spirit Field is scheduled for 8:00pm.
