OUAZ men's soccer wrapped up their two-game California road trip Thursday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Antelope Valley in Lancaster, Calif. The win is the team's fourth straight away from Spirit Field in 2019.
Cristian Gennaro scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season just 6:37 apart. The Spirit entered halftime up 2-0, and
Edoardo Venutolo scored in the 56' to extend the lead to three.
The Spirit finished the match with nine shots on target. Gennaro (5) and Venutolo (2) combined for seven of those shots.
Mauricio Ochoa and
Samuel George picked up the other two.
In his first start of the season, senior goalkeeper
Andrew Tamburro made six saves to pick up the victory. Thursday marked the first time someone other than
Yuri Nascimento played keeper for the Spirit in 2019.
The next time OUAZ takes the pitch will be next Wednesday, September 18, when they travel to the East Valley to take on Benedictine-Mesa. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7pm.
