THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Returning to the road to begin a three-game span away from home, the OUAZ men's soccer team secured a 4-0 win at California Lutheran on Tuesday evening at William Roland Stadium.
It didn't take long for OUAZ (5-1) to get the lead as
Samuel George rebounded a shot from
Josias Cruz and put it away for the 1-0 lead in the eighth minute. The sixth goal of the season for George gave him 20 for his career and moved him atop the school's scoring chart in goals and with 46 career points.
Despite nine first-half shots, the Spirit wouldn't find a second tally until the 64th minute when
Jordan Riley scored on a shot from the top of the box that took a deflection and found its way into the goal. OUAZ expanded the lead to 3-0 in the 69th minute when
Mauricio Ochoa tapped in a cross by
Edoardo Venutolo.
Logan Porterfield capped the evening with his first career OUAZ goal in the closing seconds as he finished a well-played through ball from Venutolo.
The Spirit ended the night with 21 shots, and they managed 15 of those attempts on goal. Cal Lutheran (1-2) only took seven shots with three on frame. OUAZ held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Yuri Nascimento made three saves in the game to notch his third shutout of the season. He recorded his 100th career save at OUAZ with a stop in the 50th minute while the Spirit were holding that one-goal advantage.
