OUAZ men's soccer head coach Matt Gow said earlier this week that he wants his team to prove themselves to the rest of the country this weekend in Georgia. The Spirit made a statement in their first game Thursday afternoon.
 
The Spirit offense was relentless in their 6-0 victory over Truett McConnell. Samuel George (21', 73') and Cristian Gennaro (55',61') scored two goals each, and Devin Fuentes and Miguel Acosta chipped in one as well. David Lopez had two assists, and Acosta and Mauricio Ochoa added a helper each. The team fired 9 shots on goal on 14 attempts.
 
Yuri Nascimento made five saves for his second clean sheet of the season. The team as a whole only allowed eight shot attempts (five on target). The Spirit also did not allow a corner kick, while OUAZ took nine of their own.
 
The Spirit take the field again on Saturday when they take on Reinhardt University. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00am Arizona Time.
