A lot of history has been made in OUAZ Men's Soccer early in the season, and Saturday's result added on.
In a back and forth game,
Torge Witteborg scored the game winning goal in the 88' to propel the Spirit over #24 Reinhardt University 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. The win is the first over a ranked team in OUAZ program history.
The Spirit also got goals from
Cristian Gennaro (9'),
Samuel George (25'), and
Hazem Sobhy (50').
Josias Cruz picked up an assist on Witteborg's game-winner, the only OUAZ player credited with an assist.
The Spirit did not gain their first lead until the second half with Sobhy's goal, but it was short lived. Callum Lees second goal of the game tied it up less than six minutes later. The Spirit led a grand total of eight minutes the entire game.
Yuri Nascimento made six big saves in the win. He pushes his record to 4-0-0 as well.
The next time OUAZ will take the field is on Thursday, September 5, when they return home to face Marymount (Calif.). Kickoff is scheduled for 8pm at Spirit Field.
