SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ baseball team opened its final series of the season by defeating Cetys Universidad 10-6 on Tuesday evening at the Surprise Stadium Complex.
 
After giving up a run in the top of the first, OUAZ came back with an RBI double from 
Adrian Salazar and an RBI single by 
Derek Hayenga to take a 2-1 lead. 
Hayden Durkiewicz added an RBI with a groundout in the second inning.
 
Chandler Reynard helped the Spirit open a 7-2 advantage with a 2-run double in the third inning. After Cetys scored four times in their half of the fourth, OUAZ added two runs in the fifth with a run-scoring double from 
Fernando Lugo and a groundout by 
Zac Jones. Salazar added the final tally with a single in the eight to plate Reynard.
 
OUAZ collected 13 hits in the win with three hits apiece by Reyanrd, Salazar, and Hayenga. The team had a season-high six doubles, including two from Reynard.
 
Travis Turner started on the mound and gave up six runs (four earned) on nine hits. 
Cole Anderson (4-4) earned the win by throwing the final 5.2 innings without allowing a run on three hits with four strikeouts.
 
The same two teams will complete the series on Wednesday with a pair of 7-inning games. They will start at 1 p.m. on Texas Rangers Field No. 6.
