GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – The OUAZ men's volleyball team ran its winning streak to three straight matches with a sweep of Westcliff on Friday night at Santiago High School.
OUAZ (9-6) secured the 25-22, 31-29, 25-18 victory by posting 38 kills with a .200 hitting percentage. They closed out the win with 12 kills and .375 hitting in the third set.
In earning the victory, the Spirit held Westcliff (3-11) to .144 hitting behind seven blocks and 22 digs. They totaled four service aces with the Warriors getting two.
Conner Duyck led the Spirit with nine kills during his two sets played.
Jacob Smith added seven kills in his two sets while
Bryan Ilena and
Colin Donisthorpe recorded five kills apiece.
Smith and
Joaquin Santa Cruz each had seven digs to lead the team and Donisthorpe had a team-high three blocks.
Earlier in the day, OUAZ dropped an exhibition match at Concordia (Calif.) 15-22, 22-25, 25-20, 17-25.
Smith led the Spirit with 11 kills in the loss.
The Spirit will return to Golden State Athletic Conference action on Saturday when they face Hope International at 8 p.m. MST.
