SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's tennis team two-match winning streak was snapped with an 8-1 loss to No. 12 Arizona Christian in Golden State Athletic Conference action on Friday morning.
OUAZ (4-4, 3-2 GSAC) kept the three doubles matches close despite Arizona Christian (7-0, 5-0) sweeping all three.
Leonardo Couto and
Eduardo Couto fell in the No. 1 match to the No. 4-ranked team in the NAIA by a score of 9-8.
Andres Reyes and
Noel Maurin fell in the No. 2 match 9-7 while the No. 3 duo of
Austin Todd and
Jordan Petrie falling 9-6.
The Spirit's lone point of the dual came in the No. 6 singles match where
Eric De Romas earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Reyes fell in his singles No. 2 match 4-10 in a third-set tiebreak against the 20th-ranked played in the NAIA.
OUAZ is now off until March 19 when they will host a non-conference dual against Hastings.
