ROLLING HILLS, Calif. – The OUAZ women's tennis team dropped a Golden State Athletic Conference dual at Marymount California 5-4 on Friday afternoon at the Kramer Club.
OUAZ (4-12, 3-6 GSAC) fell behind after winning just a single point during doubles action. That came in the No. 3 match when
Bianca Amaya and
Jocelyn Torres earned an 8-1 victory.
Singles wins from
Katie Fyall (6-2, 6-1) and
Hana Papaco (6-3, 6-2) had the Spirit back within 4-3 with two matches still being played. Marymount (5-7, 4-5) clinched the match when 38th-ranked Miah Webb defeated 45th-ranked
Julia Ortiz 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match.
Torres completed a 2-0 day for her individually by winning her No. 5 match 6-3, 6-1 to finish the day's action.
The Spirit will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they face No. 14 Westmont in Santa Barbara, Calif.
