PHOENIX – The OUAZ men's volleyball team brought their second season to a close with a 3-1 win at Arizona Christian on Thursday night in Golden State Athletic Conference action.
It took 43 kills and .206 hitting on Thursday to secure the 25-21, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15 win to complete a three-match season sweep of Arizona Christian (0-15, 0-9 GSAC). The Spirit also held a 38-32 edge in digs and a 7-6 advantage in blocks. Both teams had eight service aces.
OUAZ had 13 different players record a kill in the match and 10 of those had multiple kills.
James Yahner led the way with nine kills while hitting .667.
Jacob Vander Beek added seven kills and .538 hitting.
Colin Donisthorpe recorded six blocks to lead the Spirit.
Quentin Campbell had a team-high five digs.
Ian Fields finished with 38 assists and four aces.
With the win, OUAZ finishes their season with a 14-8 overall record and they went 5-5 in GSAC play to place third in the inaugural season of men's volleyball for the conference. The Spirit also won the NCCAA National Tournament during the season.
