FULERTON, Calif. – The OUAZ men's tennis team dropped their Golden State Athletic Conference dual at No. 17 Hope International 6-3 on Friday afternoon at the Fullerton Tennis Center.
Playing their first GSAC dual away from home, OUAZ (6-5, 3-3 GSAC) fell behind 2-1 after they could only get a doubles win from No. 2 pair
Andres Reyes and
Noel Maurin.
Hope International (15-2, 7-1) took a 3-1 lead with a win in the No. 1 singles match before the Spirit used win from
Eduardo Couto (No. 2) and Reyes (No. 3) to even the match at 3-3.
The Royals would win the No. 4 match to get within one point of clinching. The No. 5 match saw Maurin forced a third-set tiebreak before falling 6-4, 3-6, 3-6 to secure an HIU victory.
OUAZ will look to bounce back on Saturday when they go for a season sweep of San Diego Christian when the teams compete at 3 p.m.
