SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's tennis team completed the weekend with a pair of sweeps after defeating Marymount California 9-0 in a Golden State Athletic Conference dual at the Surprise Tennis Complex on Saturday.
The win has the Spirit at 4-3 overall this season and moved them into a tie for second in the GSAC with a 3-1 conference record.
The Spirit got things rolling early when they secured all three points from the doubles matches.
Austin Todd and
Peter Hariri opened the day with an 8-1 win in the No. 3 doubles match.
Andres Reyes and
Noel Maurin followed with an 8-2 win in the No. 2 match.
Eduardo Couto and
Leonardo Couto closed the sweep by taking the No. 1 match 8-4.
Todd then started the singles matches with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 match. Reyes would clinch the team victory when he won the No. 3 match 6-0, 6-1.
L.Couto ran his singles winning streak to five straight when he claimed the No. 1 match 6-2, 6-3.
Dong Hyun Kim followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 4 match. The No. 2 match was won by E.Couto 6-3, 7-5 and the sweep was complete with
Eric De Romas winning the No. 6 match 7-5, 6-2.
OUAZ is back in action on Friday when they host No. 12 Arizona Christian at the Surprise Tennis Complex at 10 a.m.
