MESA, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's volleyball team was swept by fifth-ranked Benedictine Mesa on Thursday night in a non-conference match at Mesa Community College.
OUAZ (5-3) dropped its second straight match by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-23.
Benedictine Mesa (6-3) had a 39-29 edge in kills for the match with the Spirit only reaching double-digits for a set in the third. OUAZ hit just .119 and recorded two service aces compared to the .289 hitting and four aces from the Redhawks.
Conner Duyck led the Spirit with 12 kills to surpass the 11 he had all season entering the match. He hit .222 while adding five digs and one ace.
Jacob Vander Beek added eight kills and James Yanher had four.
BenU Mesa got 12 kills from Logan Adcock.
OUAZ will take to the road next week to play a pair of Golden State Athletic Conference matches. The first is on February 15 at UC Merced at 8 p.m. (Arizona).
