ROCKLIN, Calif. – The OUAZ men's basketball team began its final road trip of the season with an 85-69 loss at No. 17 William Jessup on Thursday night in a Golden State Athletic Conference game.
OUAZ (4-22, 1-15) was within seven midway through the first half when William Jessup (20-8, 11-5) went on an 11-2 run to build a 34-18 advantage. The deficit stayed in double digits for all but one possession the rest of the night as the Warriors continued to have answers for any Spirit run.
Marcus Williams would lead the Spirit with 18 points on a 6 of 8 night from beyond the arc. This is the second time this season he had six made 3-pointers in game to sit two shy of the school record.
The Spirit shot 46.7 percent as a team and finished 10 of 20 from deep. They tallied 15 assists on 28 baskets and got 19 points from 16 Warriors' turnovers.
Tanner Riley added 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists for OUAZ.
Dimetres Moore scored 12 points.
William Jessup shot 52.5 percent and scored 46 points in the paint. The Warriors had a 42-25 edge in rebounds and they scored eight second chance points.
Antonio Lewis led the Warriors with 22 points.
The Spirit will play their final road game of the season on Saturday when they face Menlo at 4 p.m. (Arizona) on Atherton, California.
