SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's basketball team completed a season sweep of Life Pacific with a 75-67 win on Thursday night at Willow Canyon High School.
OUAZ (10-12, 4-11 GSAC) closed the first half with 10 straight points to help them take a 40-28 lead into the intermission. The run helped the Spirit turn an early six-point deficit into the double-digit halftime advantage.
The lead would eventually extend to 19 points in the third quarter before Life Pacific (1-24, 0-15) made a run. The Warriors would trim the deficit to eight in the final minute before OUAZ hit free throws to seal the victory.
Bailey Osmer tallied her fifth 20-point outing of the season with 28 points on 11 of 17 shooting. She also led the team with four assists and four steals while grabbing six rebounds and blocking two shots.
The Spirit ended the game shooting 40.6 percent with eight makes from beyond the arc. They had a 41-36 edge in rebounds with 15 offensive rebounds. The forced Life Pacific into 20 turnovers and converted them into 18 points.
Alexis Smith added 15 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Spirit.
Jorie Mayfield led the way with nine rebounds.
Life Pacific shot 43.5 percent and scored 30 points in the paint. Brenna Abraham finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
OUAZ will play their final home game of the season on Saturday at noon when they host Hope International.
