Davis' Historic Day Help Spirit Complete Comeback Against Westcliff

SURPIRSE, ARIZ. - The Spirit played its first game in ten days, just 48 hours after Thanksgiving in the United States. While the rest of the country was recovering from the historic holiday, OUAZ's Taylor Davis made some history of her own on Saturday afternoon.

Davis scored a school-record 38 points on 74% shooting to anchor OUAZ's 91-83 victory over Westcliff at Spirit Arena. Davis also grabbed 12 rebounds for her second straight double-double.

OUAZ needed all 38 of Davis's points, as they trailed by five entering the fourth quarter and were down by 11 with 5:28 left in regulation. The Spirit clawed back into the game in the final five minutes, and forced overtime for the first time this season. It was only the second overtime in program history, the first coming last season against Bethesda University on Dec. 29, 2018.

Davis was not the only Spirit player to finish with a double-double. Natasha Radovic dropped in 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Radovic and Davis combined for 11 of the Spirit's 17 points in the overtime session. Kate Sokolova (18) and Kirsten Shinske (13) finished in double-figure scoring for OUAZ.

The Spirit are now 5-1 on the season, and have now won two straight on its new home court. They look to add more wins at Faith Arena when they open conference play next week. OUAZ first hosts Westmont on Thursday,
Dec. 5, then welcome in The Masters two days later on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tipoff for Thursday's game is scheduled for 5pm, and Saturday's tilt is scheduled for Noon.
