Spirit Down Warriors for First Victory at Faith Arena
SURPRISE, ARIZ. - The first time OUAZ matched up with SAGU American College in 2019, it was a game that the Spirit were locked in a battle for most of. This go around, the Spirit took control and did not give any of it back.
Three OUAZ players finished with double-doubles, and the Spirit did not allow more than 11 points in any quarter in its 85-37 win over the Warriors on Wednesday night. It was the first win inside Faith Arena for the women's basketball program.
Natasa Radovic and
Taylor Davis had matching 17-point, 12-rebound stat lines. The only difference is that Radovic grabbed seven offensive rebounds and Davis had six. The team grabbed 23 offensive rebounds against the
Warriors, which is tied for the second-most in a game in school history.
The program cleaned up 23 on the offensive glass against Bethesda on Jan. 7, 2018. The program record is 24 against Saint Katherine on Oct. 27, 2018.
Kirsten Shinske scored 14 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Shinske's 10 defensive boards is the most by anybody to check in on Wednesday.
The Spirit have won the first two games of the season series against SAGU American Indian College, and will have the chance to sweep it on Dec. 10 when they host the Warriors again. The Spirit will have the next ten days off before hitting the court again on Nov. 30 when Westcliff comes to the far West Valley. Tipoff is scheduled for Noon Arizona Time. Â
