SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team had 12 different players record at least one kill in a 3-0 sweep of New Hope Christian on Friday night at Willow Canyon High School.
In the 25-12, 25-20, 25-14 victory, OUAZ (4-10) picked up 41 kills as a team as they hit .241 in the match. The Spirit got off to a hot start with 15 kills and .520 hitting in the opening set to establish the tone for the rest of the night.
Katie Defer led the offensive attack for OUAZ with nine kills and .529 hitting with no hitting errors. Her night also included nine digs, a pair of blocks, and one service ace.
Kenzie Ray added eight kills while
Sharron Wallace and
Avie Butsko had six kills each.
OUAZ did a nice job defensively in holding New Hope Christian (3-6) to .061 hitting on 23 kills. The Spirit totaled five blocks and 64 digs and they also posted eight service aces.
Kanoe Vinoya had her sixth double-double of the season with 31 assists and a team-high 11 digs. Wallace and
Camila Mitton had 10 digs apiece. Butsko matched Defer with two blocks and Wallace had two aces.
The Spirit will now get set to host Arizona rival Embry-Riddle on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Willow Canyon High School.
