SURPRISE, Ariz. – Playing the first of their final three home matches of the season, the OUAZ women's volleyball team faded late in suffering a 3-0 loss to Menlo College on Friday night at Willow Canyon High School.
It was the OUAZ (7-16, 3-11 GSAC) attack that couldn't match the output of the visitors as Menlo (13-9, 9-4) recorded a 42-33 edge in kills while earning the 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 sweep. The Spirit hit just .142 in defeat while allowing the Oaks to hit .284.
Austin Edwards gave the Spirit 10 kills and 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. She hit .119 while adding two blocks.
Katie Defer and
Sharron Wallace finished with seven kills apiece.
OUAZ recorded 52 digs and four blocks.
Leni Bartley had a match-high 15 digs and
Skyler Traut matched Edwards with two blocks.
Menlo would finish with 54 digs and 10 service aces.
The Spirit will conclude the weekend on Saturday when they host William Jessup at 1 p.m. in their final match at Willow Canyon High School. The Spirit will play their final home match on campus at Faith Arena on Wednesday, October 30 at 7 p.m.
