The Spirit had the chance to put themselves within three points of the GSAC's top spot early Thursday evening against Menlo. The Oaks instead used it as an opportunity to pull its conference record to .500.
Luke Gleadle's 81' goal was all Menlo needed to defeat OUAZ on Thursday. This marks only the second time this season the Spirit were shut out, but it has happened twice in the last three games.
The Spirit had a hard time getting anything going offensively. They had just three shot attempts, and registered only one shot on target.
Hazem Sobhy had the only shot on target, coming in the 24'.
OUAZ did a good job holding the Oaks at bay prior to the goal. They only allowed five shots on target, with the fifth one finding the back of the net.
Andrew Tamburro made four saves in his third start of the year.
The Spirit will get a chance to get back over .500 when they travel to Rocklin, Calif. to take on William Jessup on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30pm.
