The OUAZ men's basketball team has another week on the road ahead of them this week as they have two Golden State Athletic Conference games on tap. The Spirit will play at Hope International on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. MST in Fullerton, California. They will then visit Life Pacific on Saturday at 4 p.m. MST in San Dimas, California to complete a 4-game road swing.

ABOUT THE SPIRIT
OUAZ makes another trip to Southern California with a 3-10 overall record and coming off a 1-1 week last week that included the program's first-ever GSAC win when they defeated San Diego Christian 84-79 on Saturday. The Spirit are currently tied for seventh in the conference with a 1-3 record in league games and they have gone 1-2 in road games this season.

The Spirit are scoring 74.5 points per game by shooting 41.5 percent from the field. The teams has scored 70-plus points in a game nine times this season and they are 3-1 when scoring 80-plus points in a game. They are averaging 7.0 made 3-pointers per game by shooting 29.2 percent from beyond the arc. OUAZ distributes 11.6 assists per game with a 0.7 assist-to-turnover ratio.

At the defensive end, OUAZ opponents are scoring 86.2 points per game and shooting 44.5 percent from the field. Eight times this season the opposition has scored 80-plus points with teams scoring 90-plus on four of those occasions. OUAZ is allowing 8.2 made threes per game at 33.0 percent. The Spirit grab 38.3 rebounds per game while giving up 44.5 to the opponents. Spirit opponents are committing 15.0 turnovers per game with OUAZ averaging 6.8 steals and getting 1.7 blocks per game.

Brian King Jr. continues to lead the Spirit in scoring at 16.8 points per game. That has him ranked eighth in the GSAC. King is one of three players in the GSAC with multiple 30-point scoring games this season. He has scored in double figures 10 times and is second on the team with 22 made threes. King shoots 41.0 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Dimetres Moore is providing the Spirit 14.2 points per game with nine games in double figures and four 20-point outings. He has been in double figures in nine of the team's last 10 games, including 25 at San Diego Christian on Saturday. Moore shoots 60.0 percent from the field to rank sixth in the GSAC and he is 14th by hitting on 38.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Tanner Riley is averaging 14.1 points per game and he has scored in double figures nine times. Riley shoots 41.4 percent from the field while leading the team with 23 steals. He has grabbed 65 rebounds and has 21 assists and three blocked shots.

ABOUT HOPE INTERNATIONAL
Hope International enters Thursday's game with a 12-3 overall record and receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll. The Royals are third in the GSAC with a 3-1 record in conference games and they 11-2 at home this season. Josh Powell-Davis is fifth in the conference in scoring at 19.4 points per game to lead an offense that is scoring 88.6 points per outing.

The two programs played a pair of games in Fullerton last season with the Royals winning each time. The second meeting saw HIU down the Spirit 106-78.

ABOUT LIFE PACIFIC
Life Pacific will start the week with a 7-6 overall record and 5-3 at home. The Warriors are tied with the Spirit and San Diego Christian for seventh in the GSAC with their 1-3 record. The team is scoring 78.6 points per game with Adam Gotelli leading the way at 12.4 per outing.

In the previous meeting between the two teams, OUAZ defeated the Warriors 92-80 at a neutral court last season.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Spirit are back home next week for a pair of GSAC games. They will play Menlo on January 17 at Paradise Honors High School and then host William Jessup on January 19 at Willow Canyon High School.
