Trip Opens with 86-74 Loss at Westmont

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The OUAZ men's basketball team opened its two-game road swing in California with an 86-74 loss at Westmont on Thursday night in Golden State Athletic Conference action.
 
It was a tough shooting night for OUAZ (3-15, 1-8 GSAC) as the hit on just 34.4 percent from the field. Westmont (11-6, 5-4) ended the game shooting 50.8 percent in completing a season sweep of the Warriors.
 
Five players scored in double figures for the Spirit with Brian King Jr. leading the way with 13 points. Marcus Williams finished with 12 points with Dimetres Moore adding 11. Tanner Riley and Elijah Simmons scored 10 points apiece.
 
King led OUAZ with six rebounds and Riley had a team-best three assists. Williams and Riley had three steals apiece.
 
The Spirit went 6 of 20 from beyond the arc and they totaled 10 assists against 14 turnovers. They forced Westmont into 19 turnovers with 10 steals and turned them into 16 points.
 
Kyle Scalmanini led three Warriors in double figures with 18 points.
 
OUAZ will now get set for a Saturday contest at No. 5 The Master's in Santa Clarita, California at 4 p.m. MST.
