SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The OUAZ men's basketball team fell short in their effort to split a weekend road trip for the second straight week as they fell at Life Pacific 87-75 on Saturday afternoon in Golden State Athletic Conference action.
OUAZ (3-12, 1-5 GSAC) scored the first eight points of the game and held that advantage for nearly seven minutes. Life Pacific (8-7, 2-4) would mount a 15-0 run in the late stages of the half to help them to a 41-36 halftime lead.
With 11:03 to play in the second half OUAZ trailed 60-56 before going nearly five minutes without scoring and seeing the Warriors build a 15-point advantage. The Spirit would get back within seven in the final minute, but they couldn't get any closer.
Tanner Riley led the way for OUAZ with a season high 24 points while matching his season best with 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Riley hit 6 of 15 from the floor with a pair of 3-pointers and 10 of 11 at the foul line.
OUAZ shot 44.4 percent as a team with five makes from beyond the arc. They totaled 36 points in the paint and had 18 points from 11 Life Pacific turnovers.
Dimetres Moore added 17 points with
Brian King Jr. scoring 16 for the Spirit.
Life Pacific shot 45.0 percent with eight threes. Chez Lister led the Warriors with 27 points and Colin added 21 off the bench.
The Spirit will be back in Arizona next week for a pair of games. They host Menlo on Thursday at 7 p.m. with the game being played at Paradise Honors High School.
