SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team had no answer for seventh-ranked Westmont College in a 3-0 loss this afternoon at Willow Canyon High School.
OUAZ (3-4, 0-2 GSAC) struggled with the speed of the visitors in the 25-18, 25-15, 25-16 loss. Westmont (10-1, 2-0) took advantage with a 45-22 edge in kills while hitting .237 and holding the Spirit to .029.
OUAZ had nine kills in the first set and then just six and seven in the next two sets respectively. They did record 42 digs and seven blocks in the match.
Jorie Mayfield and
Austin Edwards led the Spirit with five kills apiece.
Seleni Bartley added four kills and
Asha Harris had three.
Rachel Kater paced the offense with 18 assists. Bartley added a team-high 12 digs and
Kelsey Marchant recorded 10 digs.
The Spirit are back in action on Friday when they host Hope International University at 7 p.m. at Willow Canyon High School.
