PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona softball team split in their doubleheader against the Arizona Christian Firestorm. The Spirit fell in game one with a final score of 5-3. In game two the Spirit were victorious with a final score of 9-8.
 
With the split, the Spirit finish the season with a record of 9-39. The Firestorm's record is now 13-22.
 
In this final doubleheader of the season, the Spirit and the Firestorm battled again for the third time this season. The Firestorm were the first to get on the board in the first inning. OUAZ scored two in the top of the third to take the lead. Saxton and Brown each had a single RBI. The Firestorm responded with three runs of their own to take back the lead.
 
OUAZ fought in the fourth to close the gap to a 4-3 lead for the Firestorm with an RBI double from Miller. ACU scored again in the bottom of the fifth and held on to end the game 5-3.
 
Sabrina Jimenez had six strikeouts for the game helping the Spirit hold off the Firestorm.
 
In game two of the day, both teams come out strong, battling for the lead. The Spirit scored two runs in the top of the first from a fielding error and a sacrifice fly by Savannah Brown. In the third, fourth and fifth the Spirit would score six more runs and hold the Firestorm to three.
 
Vanessa Rodarte, Sydney Saxton, Kayla Jones each earned an RBI; Amanda Almond scored on a fielding error, and Emily Stebbins earned a double RBI in the fifth to give the Spirit the lead. In the sixth, the Firestorm would attempt a comeback, but OUAZ scored a final run in the top of the seventh to seal the game at 9-8.
