SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona softball team split their doubleheader on Friday with the University of Antelope Valley. The Spirit fell in game one 14-3 in a final six-innings, before rebounding to take game two by a final of 7-3.



The Spirit struck first in game one, striking for three runs in the first two innings to take an early 3-0 lead. The University of Antelope Valley bats than came to life. The Pioneers struck for two runs in the third, three runs in the fourth and another nine runs in the sixth inning to claim the 14-4 run-rule victory.

OUAZ kept it close all game with the Pioneers until the sixth. Antelope Valley's offense struck for nine runs on nine hits and were helped by three Spirit errors.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Spirit responded. OUAZ gave up two early runs, before striking for five runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning. 

The Spirit added single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to seal the 7-3 victory.

In the win, Kayla Jones finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's.

The Spirit conclude their season long homestand on Saturday morning, with a doubleheader against William Jessup University beginning at 11am.
