SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona softball team dropped their doubleheader Tuesday to Carroll College by finals of 7-0 and 11-1 in a final 5-innings, at Willow Canyon High School in Surprise.
With the losses, the Spirit fall to 3-22 overall on the season. With the pair of victories, Carroll College improves to 9-4 overall.

The Spirit and Saints played a close first game on Tuesday afternoon. Carroll College got on the board first in the top of the second inning, on an RBI groundout. The Saints struck again for an RBI single in the fourth inning to increase their lead at 2-0.

OUAZ continued to remain in the game, but just couldn't muster any runs across the plate. Carroll College struck for five more runs in the top of the seventh inning to claim the 7-0 game one victory.

Miranda Davis led the Spirit offense in game one, finishing 2-for-3 in the leadoff spot with a pair of singles.

Game two was all Carroll College. The Saints offense erupted for five runs on five hits in the top of the first inning and never looked back.

With two outs in the bottom of the first,
Amanda Almond drew a walk.
Emily Stebbins stepped to the plate and smashed a double down the left field line, which scored Almond. Stebbins would be stranded at second and the Spirit would trail the Saints 5-1 headed to the second inning.

The Carroll College offense struck for a run in the third inning, four runs in the fourth, and a run in the fifth to seal the 11-1 run-rule victory.

The Spirit will take Wednesday off, before returning to action Thursday afternoon against Menlo College. Thursday's doubleheader will begin at 4pm at Willow Canyon High School in Surprise.
