SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona men's tennis team won their first regular season match on Friday afternoon, by defeating NCAA Division III member Connecticut College by a final of 7-2 at the Surprise Tennis Facility.
With the victory Friday, the Spirit move improve to 1-6 on the year.

Friday was a historic day for the Spirit, as they won their first match in program history. While OUAZÂ has claimed victories this year in exhibition matches against local junior colleges, this was their first win against a countable opponent. The Spirit defeated NCAA Division III Connecticut College by a final of 7-2.
Play began with doubles action, as the Spirit would drop #1 doubles before claiming victories in #2 and #3 doubles.Â
In singles play, OUAZÂ claimed victories in the #1 through #5 singles matches, before dropping #6 singles.
The Spirit dominated #3, #4, and #5 singles, winning by finals of 6-0, 6-1, then 6-0, 6-2, followed by 6-0, 6-2.
The OUAZ men return to action this coming Monday, as they will host NCAA Division I; University of Northern Colorado beginning at 10am at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
