Warriors Sweep @OUAZSB In Doubleheader

Spirit fall by finals 8-1 and 7-1

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona softball team dropped both of their games Saturday against William Jessup University. The final scores were 8-1 and 7-1.

With the losses Saturday, the Spirit fall to 4-27 overall. With the victories, the William Jessup Warriors improve to 17-8 overall.

It was a rough first game for the Spirit, as OUAZ got behind 5-0 before they were able to get on the board. KaeLynn Miller scored the lone run of game one for OUAZ following a pair of errors on the left side of the Warriors infield. Miller reached base on a fielders choice with one out early in the bottom of the third inning. The Warriors went on to add runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to claim the 8-1 win.

In the victory for the Warriors, Shelbi Graifman and Brooke Sarro combined on a seven-inning no-hitter. The duo allowed the single run on zero hits, while striking out three and walking one.

In game two, things did not get any better for the Spirit. OUAZ gave up runs in the first and second inning and played catch-up the entire game. The Warriors limited the Spirit to one run on four hits.

The Spirit will get a few days to rest, before return to the diamond this Thursday through Saturday at the Tucson Invitational games. First up for OUAZ will be Thursday games against the University of Jamestown at 1:30pm. followed by a game against Dickinson State University at 3:30pm.
