PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona baseball team drove across town Tuesday afternoon for a matinee at Arizona Christian University in Phoenix. The Spirit outslugged the Firestorm and claimed an 11-10 victory in a final 10-innings.
With the victory the Spirit improve to 4-11 overall, while the Arizona Christian Firestorm fall to 7-10 on the year.

The fireworks started early on Tuesday afternoon, as the Spirit struck for the games' first two runs in the top half of the first inning. OUAZ scored two unearned runs on a throwing error and a wild pitch. Arizona Christian would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the second inning to even the game at 2-2.

The Spirit struck for seven runs combined in the third and fourth innings.
Josh Meyer got OUAZ on the board in the third inning with a solo homerun on a 2-0 count and no one on. The Spirit struck for six runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 9-5 lead heading into the fifth inning.

ACU clawed their way back into the game, by plating five combined runs in the sixth through eighth innings and forced extras all squared at 10-10.

Josh Meyer came up big for the Spirit yet again, as he singled to left field on a 2-2 count to score
Chandler Reynard and put the Spirit ahead at 11-10.

Zachary Humphrey came in out of the bullpen for OUAZ in the bottom of the 10
th inning to close the game out. Humphrey got a ground out and a fly out, before allowing a two-out single. He then struck the next batter out to seal the victory for OUAZ and record his first save of the year.

Colton Follett (1-0) picked up the win in relief, going 2.2 innings while allowing one unearned run on two hits. He finished with four strikeouts and two walks.

The Spirit return to action on March 2
nd, when they head south for a pair of games in Tucson at the Tucson Invitational. First up for OUAZ, is a match-up with St. Cloud State University at 3:30pm.
