@OUAZTennis Women Split Saturday Matches

Spirit defeat Hope International 5-4 and fall 9-0 to #15 Arizona Christian

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona women's tennis team defeated Hope International University by a final of 5-4 on Saturday afternoon, before falling 9-0 to 15th ranked Arizona Christian University.

With the split Saturday, the Spirit women open the year at 1-1 overall.

In the first match of the day against HIU, the Spirit claimed the first regular season win in team history. OUAZ began the day by claiming all three doubles matches. The Spirit then won #5 and #6 doubles to claim the victory over the Hope International Royals.

The second match of the day, saw the Spirit matched up with crosstown rival and 15th ranked Arizona Christian University. The Firestorm showed how tough of a team they are, by defeating OUAZ 9-0.

The Spirit return to the court on Saturday February 24th at 10am, when OUAZ welcomes NCAA Division I member; the University of Montana to Surprise. This match will be an exhibition for the Spirit.
