OREM, Utah – The OUAZ women's basketball team got off to a slow start and fell at Utah Valley, 90-61, in an exhibition game for the Spirit on Saturday afternoon.
OUAZ was outscored 26-10 in the first quarter and 28-17 in the third quarter. They shot 34.8 percent from the field and were 6 of 25 from beyond the arc.
"Credit to Utah Valley for shooting the ball incredibly well. I am proud of our effort at the offensive end," OUAZ Head Coach
Milee Karre said. "The shots weren't falling, but we followed the game plan and created a lot of good looks. We will learn from this and take it into the rest of the year.
Bailey Osmer led the Spirit with 16 points on a 6 of 12 shooting performance. She also recorded three assists and four steals.
Marissa Copley added 10 points off the bench.
UVU shot 55.4 percent from the field and scored 48 points in the paint. Alexis Cortez led three Wolverines in double figures with 19 points.
OUAZ returns to action next Saturday, November 24, when they head across the valley for a 2 p.m. game at Benedictine Mesa. The Spirit defeated the Redhawks 82-74 on November 8 at home.
